Standard Classification of Star Hotels

The star classification system is among the most widely-accepted rating of hotels worldwide. Ratings of hotels in different countries are done by the government or quasi-government sources, independent rating agencies, or sometimes the hotel operators themselves.

The Indian hotel industry follows the star rating system, which indicates the number and standard of facilities offered by the hotel Like:-

  1. The Ambience – Designed, Decorated, Colours, Quality, and garden within hotel premises.
  2. Layout- Total size of area hotel is built which includes room size with bathroom and gallery, Number and type of rooms, floors, lobby area, Spa, Gym, porch, etc.
  3. Facilities/Services Offered – Pick up and drop, Currency exchange, Spa, Gym, Restaurants, Bar, Casino, Tour and Travel, Facilities for the physically challenged, Safety and security, etc.
  4. Staff – Experience, Qualification, and Level (Hierarchy)
  5. Hygiene and Cleanliness.

One-star Hotels One-star Hotels: These sizes of properties are generally small and sole proprietor/family/partner-owned, relatively family atmosphere. There may be a limited range of facilities, these hotels offer modest rooms with nothing more than a bed and bathroom and possibly meals. Minimum 10 rooms with windows / Ventilation. A clean change of bed and bath linen daily & between check-in. However, maintenance, cleanliness, and comfort would be of an acceptable standard.

 

Two-star Hotels    Adding to One-star hotels facilities, this has more extensive facilities than one-star hotels. This is well-equipped, usually with good bedded an en suite bath or shower. Staff will be more professional and presentation than at the one-star level and will offer food and beverage services. Air-conditioning should be done in 25% of Rooms.

 

 

 

Three-star Hotels   Establishment to have all necessary trading licenses and public liability insurance. Hotels run 24 hrs and in a size to support higher staffing levels. Having higher quality and range of facilities than at the lower star classifications. Reception, Bedrooms, Bathroom, Public areas, and kitchen are more equipped, spacious, elegant, and serviced daily and the restaurant caters to non-residents also. Multiple room options, gym, and conference room/ business facilities. All Rooms will have an en suite bath (toiletries in the bathroom) and shower, direct-dial telephone and besides room service, 24×7 operative and emergency supplies like medicines, toiletries, first aid kit.

Four-star Hotels  Adding to the services and facilities of three-star hotels, a high and classic level of degree considerably luxurious furnishings, decor, and equipment in every area of the hotel. Bedrooms will also usually offer more space than at the lower star levels. They will be well-designed with comprise coordinated furnishings and decor. There will be a high staff to guest ratio, with Airport pick up and porter service, twenty-four-hour room service, and laundry and dry-cleaning services. The restaurant will demonstrate exquisite cuisine. Adding to that Provision of a wheelchair for the differently-disabled guest, Valet (Parking) service, Travel Desk, Mandatory Newspaper in a room, Business center, etc.

Five-star Hotels    Compare to four-star hotels, five-star hotels offer more spacious and luxurious accommodations throughout the hotel, matching the best international standards. The area and layout of the hotel may in acres with classic decorative garden and waterfalls, A bigger porch, and the interior design, impressive. The surface, wall, and furnishings should be immaculate. The service is flawless. There should be 2 or more restaurants and each restaurant will carry specific cuisine with a high level of technical skill. The staff will be knowledgeable, helpful, and well versed in all aspects of customer care, combining efficiency with courtesy.
