Accommodation and Types of Rooms

The accommodation sector consists of different hospitality services that can include self-catering establishments, budget and luxury hotels, bed and breakfasts, farmhouses, hostels, villas, and even campsites. The half-board accommodation will normally include breakfast and dinner with the price, while the full-board service will also include lunch. This sector is extremely important to the tourism industry as visitors need to relax and feel comfortable in their chosen location. Here are all the different types of accommodation tourists can choose from.

The Hotel designed the rooms, keeping guest’s requirements in their mind or If the architectural design is according to the area or space then the hotel categorized the rooms as per the availability. Pricing is done according to the type of bed, number of occupants, number of bed, decor, specific furnishings or features, and special theme available in the room.

Rooms price are also categorized on the type of décor, rooms located may be pool-side or ocean-side.

Single: A room assigned to one person who has one bed, an extra mattress may be allowed but charges will be added. Basically, the room size or area of Single Rooms are generally between 400 sq.ft to 450 sq.ft.

Double: A room assigned to two people. May have one (for two pax) or two single beds. The room size or area of Double Rooms are generally between 425 sq.ft to 500 sq.ft.

Twin: A room with two twin beds. May be occupied by one or more people. The room size or area of Twin Rooms are generally between 350 sq. ft to 550 sq. ft

Double-Bed: A Room with two double ( or perhaps queen) beds. And can accommodate two this can be queen-size beds. The room size or area of Double-double / Double Twin rooms are generally between 550 sq.ft to 750 sq.ft.

Hollywood Twin Room: A room that can accommodate two persons with two twin beds joined together by a common headboard. Mostly this kind of room is made for 2 couples or for destination marriage to the accommodated maximum guests. The room size or area of Hollywood Twin Rooms are generally between 400 sq.ft to 450 sq.ft.

Triple: A room that can accommodate three persons and has been fitted with three twin beds, one double bed, and one twin bed, or two double beds. The room size or area of Triple Rooms are generally between 450 sq.ft to 700 sq.ft

Quad: A room assigned to four people. May have two or more beds. The room size or area of Quad Rooms are generally between 750sq.ft to 900 sq.ft

Queen: A room with a queen-sized bed (bed size approx. 5 ft. x 7 ft.). This is to give a good impact on guests. May be occupied by one or more people. The room size or area of Queen Rooms are generally between 350 sq. to 550 sq. ft..

King: A room with a king-sized bed ( bed size approx 10 ft x 12 ft). May be occupied by one or more people. The room size or area of King Rooms are generally between 350 sq.ft to 550 sq.ft.

Studio: A room with a bed and a couch (can be converted into a bed). Sometimes small rooms are attached to the bedroom. The room size or area of Studio room types are generally between 400 sq. to 450 sq.ft

Suite / Executive Suite: A parlour or living room connected with one or more bedrooms with separate living rooms, Maybe a small kitchen too. The room size or area of Suite rooms are generally between 850 sq.ft to 1100 sq.ft.

Mini-Suite or Junior Suite: A single room with a bed and a sitting area. Sometimes the sleeping area is in a bedroom separate from the parlor or living room. The room size or area of Junior Suites are generally between 650 sq.ft to 850 sq.ft.

President Suite | Presidential Suite: The most expensive and designated room provided by a hotel. These rooms are used by rich and government delegates. Usually, only one to two president suite is available in one single hotel property. A president suite always has one or more bedrooms, living space with a strong emphasis, well decorated, high-quality amenities, and maybe a special butler service. The room size or area of Presidential Suites are generally between 850sq.ft to 3500 sq.ft.

Apartments Room. This room type is a target for long stay guests. Facilities like open kitchens, cooking equipment, dryer, washer, etc. are usually available in the room. Housekeeping services are only provided as per requirement. The room size or area of Serviced Apartments is generally between 1000 sq.ft to 3000 sq.ft.

Connecting Rooms: A room having a connecting door between two rooms. Guests can move between rooms without going through the hallway. The Connecting rooms are generally sized between 350 sq.ft to 550 sq.ft

Murphy Room: A room that is fitted with a sofa bed or a Murphy bed (a bed that folds out of a wall or closet). The bed is opened when required. Mostly this type of room is very small. Room size is generally between 300 sq.ft to 400 sq.ft.

Accessible Room / Disabled Room: This type of room is mainly designed for disabled guests. As per law and it certain number of accessible rooms have to be provided to avoid discrimination. Room size Types are generally between 300 sq.ft to 350 sq.ft

Cabana: Rooms attached to the swimming pool or have a private pool. Cabana Room Types are generally between 300 sq. to 400 sq.ft

Adjoining rooms: Rooms having a common wall but no connecting door. The room size or area of Adjoining Room Types are generally between 300 sq. to  400 sq.ft

Adjacent rooms: Rooms close or opposite to each other. The room size is generally between 300 sq. to  400 sq.ft

Villa: A stand-alone house that gives extra privacy and space special form of accommodation which can be found in some resort hotels fully equipped villa Bedrooms, Living rooms, a private swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and balcony. It is suitable for couples, families, and large groups.

Executive Floor/Floored Room: A room with having office equipment attached and located on the ‘executive floor and can access the executive lounge. “Female Executive rooms” are also available. The room size is generally between 300 sq. to  550 sq.ft

Smoking / Non-Smoking Room: Many hotels provide both smoking and non-smoking rooms for their guests. It is located in Smoking Zone or Non-Smoking Zone. This is made to avoid discomfort to the guest.
