What is an Interview?

A conversation between two or more than two persons, where one side participant/s asks questions, and the other provides answers. In common, the word “interview” refers to a one-on-one conversation between an interviewer and an interviewee.

Preparation for an Interview

Personality and Grooming:- keeping yourself look neat, attractive, good appearance, tidy & pleasant, to improve one’s outer and inner self and to be always positive.

How to impress in first look:- Be Confident, good appealing, shaved, iron your dress, show good etiquettes and manners, add style and grace, organized pattern of attitudes and behaviors, Teeth, Nails, Hair, Overall cleanliness, keep smile body, eye contact, Hands or Legs – avoid fidgeting, Good Posture, Create your own personal style. Remember, first impressions are the best impression.

Communication Skills:  First and utmost, Language skills ability (Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication), ability to communicate effectively is essential, no matter what industry you work, express your experience, knowledge, your sense of humor. Don’t be afraid to talk and express yourself. Remember that do not over-communicate.

Departmental knowledge: If you want to work in a hotel and have decided to work in any specific department then you should have complete department knowledge for eg:- you want to work in Kitchen then you should have the hierarchy of that department and their job role and responsibilities. This will help you to understand where are you standing, whom to report, and decide the time limit of your growth to the place you want to reach.

Curriculum Vitae (CV): a personal marketing document to sell yourself to prospective employers, a concise document which shows the details of your past, existing professional skills, proficiency, and experiences. Look for a good format to prepare a CV and make sure you give all your details needed. Do not give any wrong information because the person in front of you is not a fool.

Confidence: comes from your own knowledge, ability, skills and experience, feelings of well-being, practicing, and positive thinking. Please note that whatever knowledge, ability, skills, and experience you have, doesn’t matter less or few say yes if yes or say don’t know if you don’t know, automatically your confidence will be built and the interviewee will appreciate your honesty.
